Task 4: POV of the wolf from little red riding hood

“It was not my fault!” , i gave a yeap as the woodcutter came running after me brandishing his axe, yelling in anger. I leaped over the fence and ran as fast as my four limbs could carry me into the woods. i know the surroundings of the woods at the back of my palm so i will be able to shake him off there. The wind is blowing from behind me and the scent of the woodcutter become fainter as i ran deeper into the heart of the woods. i started to slow down my pace and i sat down to catch my breath. It was not my fault to begin with, my reputation was tarnished because of the tall tales spread by the mischevious little red riding hood.

It all started when i quarreled with little red riding hood’s grandmother over a issue of  her spitting at my plants and giving me aggresive actions by pointing fingers at me. i just taught her niece a lesson for throwing rotten eggs at my doorstep and this is what she did to me before i get to say anything. i tried to explain but she forbid me from doing so by taking a broom from her house that was just beside mine and swiping me with it. i could not endure it any longer and gave a threatening howl at her face. She stared at me for a moment and fell to the ground, looking unconscious. That was when little red riding hood came along and saw her grandmother on the floor.

She screamed and then came along the villlagers with weapons as though wanting to kill me. She wept and tears started rolling down her cheeks and she kept pointing at me. i stared at her looking dumbfounded and told the villagers it was not me. However, the villagers took no explaination and the woodcutter came after me. Now, here i am as a fugitive fleeing for my life after being discriminated by the villagers. Little red riding hood acting pitiful because of her chubby face really infruiated me and i gave a howl, knowing that i will be a outcast for the rest of my life.

Task 3: Confessions of a Pirate

“Starboard!”, i observed the vast blue sea with my telescope as my ship steered to the right. Drinking ram till our cheeks turned red, songs of our adventure filling the air making the atmosphere lively and having fun with my crewmates really made a pirate’s life fun and interesting. However, dangers hid at every corner as we sailed the seven seas, tasting for adventure.

Though most may think that pirates nowadays do not exist in this modernised society, some people still harbour the dreams of travelling out to the seas and quest for an adventure of a lifetime. As the saying goes, “birds of the same feather flock together”. Having the same dreams brought me and my crewmates together, believing that there are still treasures out there, left by pirates who died since medival times. It may see naive having this mindset but we still cling onto the hope of finding treasure and forging true friendship along the way. Being a pirate may sounds easy and fun as shown in blockbuster movies but in actual fact, it is not easy at all.

Bloodsheds, raging storms and huge tidal waves, this is what we faced almost every day as pirates seeking adventure. For the sea is merciless, it takes life when a violen storm occurs. Lighting flashed and thunder clapped as my crew braced ourselves against the merciless sea, knowing that death may come to take us anytime. Gunshots firing and cannons blasting at any moment made the life of a pirate more dangerous but at the same time challenging. Most of my crew are more physically and mentally stronger then the sailors of the marines or navy as we faced dangers everyday and had a closer bond with our crewmates than them. Defending ourselves against the government and having a huge bounty on our heads really made me feel excited as we ventured the seven seas, knowing that danger may approach anytime.

Though most pirates stole from the weak, my crew made an execption. We only steal from corrupted officials and other notorious criminals like gangs which terrorised some cities with their fear and power. This made it more worthwhile and we send some money back to our families in order to put food on the table. None of us ever regretted being a pirate as this is what we dreamed to be. Dreaming to find treasure  and become a brave warrior of the sea, not like those cowardly pirates of the medival times.

Task 2

2c) Jake was angry at Diane’s accusation

“Enough!”, Jake slammed his fist on the table, staring at Diane hard in the face.  He stared at Diane with his bulging eyes and he bared his teeths. “Don’t you dare insult my parents!”, Jake take his chair and flung it towards the wall. He lets out a low growling voice as if taunting Diane to continue on. Jake’s fists were clenched and he was shaking uncontrollably. By the looks of  Jake’s blood- thirsty expression, i know he was going to explode soon.

2e) She sat heart-broken on her bed

Unable to face the music, she sank on her bed muttering to herself in disbelief. A tear slithered down her cheek as the fateful scene kept appearing in her mind. ” Why? Why did he do that to me?’, she cried out her loss of her first love. Her heart felt as if it had been stab by thousand of knives and she started sobbing uncontrollably. She buried her face in her pillow as sadness engulfed her.

Task 1b:

1. Failure: What are the pros and cons of failing?

Some people may think that life is always smooth-sailing and failure is not possible. Though when he experience failure, he will find it hard to pick himself up. There are a few pros and cons regarding this topic. Failing can demoralised a person and make them feel emotionally down. As a result, they may change their point of view on things as they lost their confidence. On the other hand, Failing can make a person see things in a different light and make them more matured in character. Failure can also motivate a person to try again.

Failing can make a person more matured as they began to see that things will not always go the way they wanted it to be. For example, during a exam, a person may experience failure and this shows that sometimes on the way to success, failing is inevitable. If a person realised this, it will make them more matured and they will be able to take more setbacks in life when they enter the harsh working world next time. Thus, failing can make a person more matured in character.

Failing can also serve as a motivation as a person is not satisfied and wants to try again until statisfactory is obtained. For example, my cousin failed his exams countless times but he passed with flying colours after putting in effort. The resolve that keeps him going is not being statisfied with his results and this led him working hard to obtained the results that he wanted. Recently, a poll shows that students did well in exams because they are not satisfied when they fail and will want to try again. This shows that failure can sometimes serves as a motivation for a person to achieve success.

However, failing can sometimes have a negative effect by making the person feel dissapointed and demoralised. For example, if a person had not experienced failure before and failed for the first time, he or she will find it hard to accept it. As a result, he or she will feel upset and will not have any confidence anymore. Mr Teo, a psychologist, stated that students nowadays feel down because of  failing and not learning to accept them as only a small setback in life. Thus, failing can sometimes make a person feel emotionally down.

In addition, failing can change a person’s point of view on things as they start to lose their confidence. For example, if a student keep failing mathemactics and he had already lost his or her confidence, he or she will not think of trying again and give up. With no self-confidence, a person is not mentally strong and will be easily affected by minor setbacks in life. As a result, that person will not be able to handle the stress of either school work or the working world and failure will always be in their way until they can change their point of view.

In conclusion, failure can help a person to achieve success by motivating him and in the process, teaching the person to be more matured. However, failure can also make a person feel down and make them lose their confidence. As a result, the person may change their point of view on things and gives up easily.
